Chinese motifs have always been close to the heart of Clarissa von Spee, an expert in Chinese art and a curator at Ohio’s Cleveland Museum of Art. From her childhood interest in painting ceramics, von Spee’s passion for refined and timeless beauty led her to discover the work of China’s Song Dynasty (960-1279 CE). Today she works to preserve Song paintings, considered some of China’s finest examples of cultural and artistic achievement, while also helping museum visitors better understand Chinese culture.
